Go to meet.google.com and click on “new meeting”
-
After you click meeting you have three options to choose from
Create a Meeting for Later
Start an Instant Meeting
Schedule in Google Calendar
-
Which one to choose? Here is a guide to help you with that.
Create a meeting for later - This lets you create a link ahead of time and share with a student or multiple students. You will be presented with the information ONLY ONCE. If you hit this method you must copy and paste the link that will start with meet.google.com/ Each unique Google Meet link will be valid for 365 days. This means that this link you can keep in a safe place, like a Google Doc, and use over and over again. This link can be shared on Canvas or Seesaw, or sent to parents or students (Grades 4-12) directly through Google Email. Recommended method for FID Days, Quarantine Students, and repeated meetings with students in any building. Preferred method to use with subs.
Start an Instant Meeting - This will start a meeting up right away. This will send you into the meeting and provide you details on how to invite students or others to the meeting using the Add Others button. You also have the information about the meeting to share via email to students or parents or colleagues. This method sends you into the meeting and allows you to email invites right from it. Recommended Method for meetings with staff or students Grade 4-12. The link will be sent to them via email.
Schedule in Google Calendar - This method will open up your Google calendar to schedule a meeting by day and time. The Google meet link is already in the calendar invite and you can then send out the invite to others. This is a great way to schedule meetings ahead of time with students or staff. Maybe after school meetings with students or for online/blended learning classes. Recommended for scheduled meetings with staff or students who are looking for help and in online/blended learning classes.
