Setting Notification Preferences
Canvas users are advised to review their notification preferences for each of the Contact Methods in their Canvas Account. Notification preferences apply to all Courses that a user is enrolled in at KU and allows users to choose what reminders they want to receive and how often.
Selecting Notification Preferences
To access your Notification Preferences click on Account in Global Navigation, then click on Notifications.
Notification Frequency Options
A different notification frequency can be chosen for each contact method in a user's Canvas Account.
- Click on the frequency icons in the column below each contact method.

There are four frequencies for email and text messages notifications:
- Notify me right away
- Send a daily summary (receive an e-mail at the end of the day with a collection of notifications)
- Send a weekly summary (receive an e-mail at the end of the week with a collection of notifications)
- Do not send me anything

For push notifications used on a tablet or phone where the Canvas Student App is installed, choose from two notification preferences:
- Notify me right away
- Do not send me anything.
